I wanted to wait and compose a magnum opus about this wonderful realtor and man, but he just came through for us again and I had to get something on the record fast. We have been surfing the real estate in Napa for about 10 years, and during that time tried looking at properties with two other agents. Both of them were real Napa people, but neither of them either wanted or were able to help us. With the first, we had to walk away from negotiations for a house we loved, and the second just never seemed to understand what we were looking for. Now I'm glad nothing happened with them, because we met Dave My husband came home from a long business trip in the frigid Northeast and suddenly had a yearning to start actively looking again, starting that weekend, so it was up to me to find a new agent. It's not that easy, as you all probably know, and the others were recommended, also, so I tried triangulating all the reviews I could find and trying to read between the lines. Dave was one of three realtors I flagged as having potential. In another lucky break, the first one called had a conflict of interest, so I ended up connecting with Dave. From the first phone call, I was impressed with his directness, his knowledge, and his positive energy and confidence. He has a totally can-do attitude, and really, how refreshing and rare is that to find. We started exchanging emails about potential properties and his replies always made me laugh, he gets back to you instantly, and slices and dices the situation for you in a few pithy words. I began to get a really good feeling about him. Then we all narrowed in on one property, very recent to the market, that seemed pretty much perfect. I was worried we would be entering a bidding war situation, but Dave was just the soul of confidence, basically, if you want it, I'll get it for you, or find you something better. No problem. We looked at a handful of properties early one Sunday, but it was obvious this place was the one. I could barely even look at it because I didn't think we'd get it, but I knew it would be okay either way, either Dave would make it happen, or we'd have more fun continuing the search with him. Either way, we had the best possible person on the job. Well, of course, we didn't get to keep hunting, because Dave somehow made it happen, without our having to compete with other buyers or pay more than we could recoup if ever we needed to sell. From the time he got the deal done, through closing and beyond, he has just been amazing, he made the process ridiculously easy, from signing all those thousands of documents, to closing, and beyond. He is an invaluable guide to Napa and just a delightful person in general. He has helped us get our bearings with our new home and toasted us with champagne, and now he magically removed a giant safe the sellers left behind in the spot I wanted to make into a little mudroom. How did he do it? With his typical energy, follow-through, and all-around competence. We've bought a number of homes over the years, and I can honestly say that working with David (or Dave, he doesn't mind either) has been the best experience we've ever had doing it. To finally be able to put down roots in Napa is a dream come true for us, and David Bridges made it happen. I hope he is always part of our time in Napa. Cheers.
